Homework  Your child should have no more than 30-45 minutes of homework in the evening.  If your child has no homework, I suggest he/she practice math facts or read to prepare for monthly assigned book projects.  A homework note will be sent home with your child in the event that homework is not completed.  It needs to be brought back to school the next day along with the completed assignment in question.  Assignments turned in a day late will receive one letter grade reduction in grade.  After the one day period, no credit will be given, but the assignment will still need to be turned in before your child will regain their recess privledges. Responsibility is the objective. Of course, absences do not fall under this rule.

Tests  When graded tests come home, they will have a “Please Sign and Return” stamp on them.  Please sign the test after you have looked at it and send it back to school with your child the next day.  If you would like to keep the test,  simply write a note on the paper close to your signature, and I will send it back home with your child.

Student Planner  Your child is required to have and use the Student Planner at school.  Please ask to see it nightly and sign it at the bottom of the day’s work column.  If the assignment has been not been checked off, assume that your child should be working on that at home.

Progress Reports  You will be receiving a progress report for your child concerning both behavior and academics beginning in October.  They will be sent home every 2 weeks on  Fridays. Please sign the report and send it back to school the following Monday with your child.  There are lines for comments if you have any.

Homework Hotline  I’ve found that leaving one message a week is very limiting, so I will be leaving one message per day.  I will not leave all of the day’s work on the message.  That’s what your child’s Student Planner is for.  I will use the hotline to inform you of special activities, long term project reminders, extra home activities to do, and to recognize students in the classroom, such as the Good Chair person, or those who passed their timed test, etc.  (942-3616  Ext. 344)
