Conclusion
Today, we see a change that cannot be ignored. Out of a
dissatisfied, rebellious, and
often drug oriented society, there has
arisen a new kind of music,
one which pulsates with a hard rock
beat, and deafens the listener
with its blaring volume, as if trying,
by sheer force, to reach a world
that has forgotten how to listen.
Words speak of hopeless dreams,
violence, and drugs, as well as
brotherhood, caring, religion,
and everyday life. Here today, and
gone tomorrow, this music reflects
the instability which seems to
invade every level of life.
But through it all, we still see the same
elements of expression that
have characterized all folk music
since time began.
This
presentation is most certainly not all inclusive. It only
gives a few examples of the
hundreds of songs from each time
period. I hope it has
given you some food for thought.
