Del Mar Heights School in Del Mar, California, welcomed a special
visitor in January--a cute, cuddly Beanie Baby named Addey.  Addey was a special guest of honor in the school's Learning Center (Science
Lab/Library) where the pup met many new friends during the five day
stay.

Del Mar is a beautiful seaside community nestled beside the Pacific
Ocean and located in San Diego County.  Some of the tourist attractions
in San Diego include the San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal Park, Sea World
and Legoland. Del Mar Heights School is one of four schools in the Del Mar Union School District serving grades kindergarten through sixth.

Here are some of the highlights of Addey's visit:

• Addey was just in time to enjoy a special 50's Day sponsored by the Student Council.  Many students and staff members wore 50's outfits for the big day.

• The kindergarten classes also had a special "Blizzard Day."  They dressed for a "pretend" snowy day, eating only white foods and writing a book about snowflakes.

• During Addey's visit, Mrs. Switzer discussed with her Learning Center classes tips on being a responsible pet owner.   The boys and girls had many great ideas on the subject.

Thanks to the boys and girls in Hobart for sending such a wonderful
traveling "buddy" to us!
