Dear Mrs. Groff's Class,

Abbey has arrived safely at George Mitchell Elementary School in Little Egg Harbor.  We are located along the coast, just north of Atlantic City. Our weather has been cool and sunny.  We are very excited about her trip.  There is so much to share with her. We will write more later.  Thank you for letting her visit us.

Dear Friends,

I am having a great time at George Mitchell Elementary School.  Oh boy!!  This is a big school.  There are 10 kindergarten classes.  I have visited a few of them.  I do not think there will be enough time to visit all of them.  The school is also getting a new addition.  I have been watching big construction trucks outside the window all week.

We took a survey of all the class pets.  The children here in Mrs. Beykirch's class have 19 dogs altogether.  There are cats, hamsters, gerbils, birds, ferrets, fish, and one rabbit and one lizard.  The boys and girls really love animals.  We also have two hamsters in the classroom. Their names are Sammy and Teddy.

We learned a lot about caring for animals.  One thing that the children all know is that all pets need fresh water every day.  They also need healthy food everyday.  You shouldn't feed your pets people food or food that is meant for other animals.  This could make your pets sick.

We have also heard a lot of nice dog stories.  My favorite is The Night I Followed My Dog  by Nina Laden.  We also heard Rosie  by Isabelle Harper, One Woof by James Herriot, and Dog Breath by Dan Pilkey.

The boys and Girls have made a bulletin board with pictures of all their pets.  There looks like there are some real happy animals here in Little Egg Harbor.

This has been a fun week.  I can't wait to meet new friends next week.

Love,
Abbey

Hello from Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey,

We have really enjoyed having Abbey visit with us.  Today is her last day.  She will be leaving tomorrow.  We are one of ten Kindergarten classrooms in our school.  We are in the mist of adding on to our school. There are 21 children in our classroom.  We have learned a lot about pets, especially dogs.  We also learned where Indiana, and Texas are, and how far
they are from New Jersey.  Thank you for allowing Abbey to come to our school.

We would like you to learn a little about our town.  We are located along the coast, just north of Atlantic City.  At one time this are was mainly a resort.  However, with the casino development in Atlantic City more people have made Little Egg Harbor  their home.  Please check out the local web site for more information.

We can't wait to read about Abbey's adventures in other states.

Thank you again!!
