October
- Is college in your future? Attend local
college fairs.
- Meet with military, vocational and college
reps throughout the next few months.
November
- Meet with your counselor to update your EDP
(Educational Development Plan). Discuss post-secondary plans and make
senior schedule accordingly.
January
- Continue to explore information about
colleges, vocational schools, specialty schools and military opportunities.
Stop by the Guidance Office and library to check out the various college
videos and viewbooks available.
- Assess your extra-curricular and community
involvement. These contributions are very important in some college
admissions processes and scholarship applications.
- Update your EDP with your counselor if there
are changes.
- If college-bound, make a list of colleges you
are interested in. Write those colleges for specific information
regarding admissions, financial aid, scholarships, majors, housing, and
extra-curricular activities.
February
- Continue to discuss your career and/or college
choices with your teachers, relatives, HHS grads and alumni.
- If college-bound, prepare to take the SAT or
ACT THIS SPRING!!! Registration for the March test is this month.
March
- Compare your senior course requests with your
post-secondary plans. Do your course requests meet admissions
requirements of the college of your choice? Make any changes with your
counselor. Remember, colleges will take into consideration the
strength of your SENIOR academic program!
- Is the mid-year waiver in your future?
See your counselor.
- Register for the May SAT.
April
- Visit college campuses during Spring break.
Meet with an admissions representative, visit a class, stroll the campus.
See your counselor for an unofficial transcript to take along.
- If the military is an option, meet with your
recruiter.
- Re-assess your senior course requests.
- Register for the June SAT.
May
- Take the SAT
- Register for the June ACT if you decide you
would like to take that test.
- Prepare a filing system to be able to organize
college information you will be receiving over the summer. (Once
college entrance exams are taken, expect to receive college mail.)
- Check senior course requests.
June
- Plan to visit colleges and universities during
summer vacation.
- Basic training in the military might be an
option!
