CHURCHES
Early church services were held in homes. The first organized Sunday School
in Hobart was called the Union Sunday School, and it started in 1851. The
first church was built by the Augustana Lutheran congregation. The building
still stands across from the old Pennsy Railroad Station.
SCHOOLS
Hobart's first school was a one-room school house in which all grades
and classes met in the same room. This little school was built on the east
side of center street where the Masonic Temple now stands.
