GET A GOOD LOOK AT THESE BABIES.......YOU REALLY DIDN'T THINK I WOULD GIVE MY SPOTS AWAY...DID YOU? I WILL TELL YOU THEY ARE OUT THERE, AND IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR......YOU'LL FIND THEM IN APRIL AND MAY.
Hey guess what? I just have discovered all the great Fall mushrooms around the Lake Michigan Area! There are a number of really tasty ones that you can find. It rained several days the first week of October, 2000 and as I was taking a class out on a fieldtrip, I found a field of the nicest Shaggy Mane Mushrooms just sitting there for picking. After explaining the importance of mushrooms in the balance of nature with my students, and how choice they were for eating, we preceeded to pick about 4 pounds of the fungi and brought them back to the classroom for sampling. Later, I took the rest home and ate like a King for two days. Hopefully, more will arrive in the next day of so. If you are curious what the Shaggy Mane looks like I have included a photo.
