The museum has just added a walk through model of a typical
animal cell and you have just accepted a position as the tour guide. As school
groups come through the model you will be responsible for identifying cell
structures and organelles and describing their functions.
Before you begin your position as tour guide, you will need to review your knowledge of the cell. In order to be prepared for your new job, you must:
Research the types of organelles and structures located
in a typical animal cell.
Be able to identify the structures in an animal cell.
Research and be able to explain the function and importance
of each of these organelles.
Research how each of these organelles are related and how
they work together.
Create a notebook about the cell. Include individual pictures
of organelles with a
statement of their function as well
as a labeled diagram of the cell with all its organelles
and a statement about how the organelles
are related and how they work together. You will be
taught how to use microsoft Word and
this will be used to make your notebook.
Use the internet as well as other resources to list the
organelles and structures present
in the animal cell.
Obtain pictures of each of the organelles or structures
and add them to your notebook.
Next to the pictures, label the organelle or structure
and list its function in the cell.
Along with the functions of the organelles, discuss any
interesting facts or information
about the organelle.
At the end of the notebook, include a page that discusses
how all the organelles work
together.
Include a diagram of the cell with
all the organelles labled.
Put all the information together in a neat, organized notebook
that you can refer back to
as a tour guide.
Be aware that there are links provided
for you and that you are not to be off those links or links that are hyperlinked
off the resources below. If you are playing around or on another site
you are using valuable computer time and will be given an alternative Textbook
Assignment to complete in place of the computer project.
