What's a
"Lexile?"
Our school uses The Lexile Framework for
Reading system to rate books according to our reading level. In
the beginning of each year students in every grade take NWEA
tests so our teachers know our math, language arts, and reading
levels. Then again at the end of the year we retest to see how much
we learned during the year. The teachers at George Earle use the
NWEA reading scores to decide what level books we should be reading.
During the year, we try to read books at higher Lexile levels and this
helps us score higher on our end of the year NWEA reading tests.
You can learn more about The Lexile
Framework for Reading and the NWEA testing by visiting their sites or
asking your principal how this works.
You can download Microsoft Excel
