Introduction
Many of life's decisions are made for you. Where you can go and what you can do when you get there are some of the decisions adults generally make for you. What's that you say? You can make some of these decisions for yourself? This quest is designed to give you experience in making real life decisions and moving you closer to becoming responsible for your choices.

Task
Independence comes with responsibility. Many of the decisions you make today will affect you for years to come. Making choices based on the available information takes practice. On this quest you have the opportunity to plan 6 weeks of your summer while your parents are abroad, and you will also have to make a decision on joining a fraternity/sorority.

Process
For your first task, your parents must leave the country for the summer. You are to stay with someone you really don't want to stay with. Find two camps and write a 3-5 paragraph letter which will convince your parents to let you spent the summer at one of these instead. You must identify several benefits of each of the camps, along with activities and prices. Write a strong argument for spending a summer at camp. Follow all letter writing and grammar rules.

For the second part assume you have won your parents approval, then write a compare/contrast paper on the two camps. Make a final decision based on this information.

For your last task, you must make a decision on whether you will join a fraternity or a sorority. You are aware that often incoming members must pass an initiation in order to be accepted. What are some of the initiation activities you may be asked to participate in? What would be some of the benefits of membership? Would you join? Why or why not? Write a 3-5 paragraph essay explaining the reasons for your decision.
