~ ~ George Earle Bull Dogs say NO to Drugs! ~ ~ ~
Response
Styles
When someone offers you
drugs or invites you to a party where you know drugs will be used,
you have several different ways to respond:
Passive
Response
- Don't let others know what your
rights are.
- Look nervous.
- Do whatever anyone else wants
you to do.
- Let others get away with things
you don't like.
- Show poor posture
- Don't have eye contact.
|
Aggressive
Response
- Disregard the rights of others.
- Make other people feel bad.
- Don't follow through with your
responsibilities to others.
- Speak loudly.
- Sound angry or sarcastic/cutting.
- Present a stiff body.
- Lean forward.
- Stare.
- Shake fist or stamp foot.
|
Assertive
Response
- Declare your own rights.
- Speak clearly and sound confident
and calm.
- Respect the rights of others.
- Don't let others push you into
doing something you don't want to do.
- Stand up straight.
- Have good eye contact.
- Be sure of yourself.

When someone comes to
you and wants you to try some drugs (cigarettes, alcohol or street
drugs), it is not necessary to put them down. Let them have their
rights. Don't get angry or hostile. Just simply say no with the
confidence that you are doing what is right for you. It doesn't
have to be right for the other guy, it just has to be right for
you.
Remember, that there are more
kids NOT taking drugs than kids who are taking drugs!
