Dear Friends,
Abbey has just arrived at Glendover
Global Studies School.
We are happy to have her with
us this week. It will be hard to see her leave on Friday afternoon.
Glendover has approximately 700 students. There are pre-school through
fifth grade classes. Many nationalities are represented in our diverse
population. Lexington is located in central Kentucky. We are
famous for horses and basketball. The population is about 240,000.
Our class has been studying communities. We have taken field trips
to visit our mayor (Pam Miller), the police department, fire department,
Henry Clay's home, McConnell Springs, Lexington Cemetery, Farmer's Market,
Garrett's Apple Orchard, Pepsi Bottling Plant, and
Shakertown. These trips
helped us understand the history, government, economics, and changes in
our community. We'll write more tomorrow. Have a good day!
Your friends,
