GENO-TECH LABORATORIES

A Genetically Modified Food Production Simulation

The following six goals are evidence of your learning throughout this project.

    1.  Your knowledge of how and why genes are altered to make changes
in the genetic makeup of organisms to improve World food
          production.

    2.  The design of your organism and the predictions of the changes that
will occur in it's genetic makeup, it's habitat, and environmental
         changes.

    3.  Communicate and work effectively as a Team.

    4.  Analyze and evaluate the positive and negative aspects of Genetically
Modified Foods in the development of your new invention.

    5.  Communicate scientific ideas and supporting details clearly through
         a Persuasive Presentation.

    6.  Reflection on the ethical implications of GENETIC ENGINEERING.

The following rubric will be used to assess your understanding.

Research and Gather Information on Genetic Engineering
Collects less than 5 correct facts that relates to the topic and their Team role. Collects 5-10 correct facts that relate to the topic and their Team role. Collects 10-15 correct facts that relate to the topic and their Team role. More than 15 collect facts, all relating to the topic and their Team role.
?

Shares Information with Team Members
Does not relay any information to teammates. Relays very little information, some relates to topic. Relays basic information that relates to topic. Relays a great deal of information..all relates to topic.
?

Fulfills Team Role and Shares Workload Equally
Does not perform duties and relies on others to do the work. Performs very little of their duties and rarely does work without reminding. Performs nearly all duties, and usually does their work without reminding. Performs all duties of assigned team role and does work without being reminded.
?
Punctual with Assigned Tasks Does not meet deadlines of  Team or company President. Is late on most assigned tasks, but work is acceptable. Tasks are accomplished on time, but are not of a high quality. All tasks meet the deadline, and are of the highest quality.
?

Presentation to President and Scientific Community
Did not participate in development or presentation of project. Provided little assistance in development, but did not take part in presentation. Assisted with a large amount of the development, but did not take part in presentation. Actively developed and presented the project to the group.
?

Provides Factual Data to Answer Questions Posed in Development of Organism
Answered less than 3 posed questions, details were confusing. Answered 3-6 posed questions, some detail was provided. 7-10 posed questions were addressed, detail was provided on most. More than 10 questions were answered factually with great detail.
?

Practicality of your Invention
No way in the world this would ever work! Well maybe... some factual information  may suggest it could work.  This just might work..and there is quite a bit of supporting data that it would. Bingo!  Everything indicates that you have a chance to retire young.
