Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About
Application Software:
Microsoft Word
In
the process of schooling and work, there often comes a time that a word
processed document is needed. The advantages of utilizing a word
processing program over a typewriter is that changes and modifications can be
done without starting over.
These instructions are for new documents you wish to create:
-
To
open Microsoft Word, click on "START"
on the bottom taskbar. Go to Programs, click, and click on Microsoft
Word. You are now ready to start inputting your data.
-
First
select the font style and size you want to use
by clicking on the drag down menus on the top toolbar. The font type
should vary depending on the type of document you are making. A resume would
have a simple font, but a letter to a close friend could have a friendly,
fun font.
-
To
set margins, click "FILE" and
"Page Setup." To change margins, you need to be on
the margin tab. You can also select landscape
(which prints the document across the long side of the paper) in stead of
the portrait (which prints the document across the short side of the paper).
-
To
center justify the document or a line, use the If
a title is necessary or wanted, center justify the first line of the
document and make the font size larger, in order to grab the reader’s
attention. Hit enter or return upon making the title and return the font
size and justification to the original set up.
-
4.
Type the information you need to, hit enter to skip a line and tab to
indent.
-
5.
To make a document double spaced, go up to the menu bar at the type, select
Format, and click on Paragraph. About half-way down the menu screen is a
section titled Spacing. Select the drag down bar and pick the spacing you
want.
-
6.
For any other bells and whistles, see the Word Help files included with the
software.
