The U.S. Supreme Court

The Supreme Court is the highest court of law in the United States. It met for the first time on February 1, 1790 in the Royal Exchange Building in New York. Then our capital moved to Washington, D.C. in 1800 and it he capital moved from New York to Philadelphia in later 1790, it started meeting met in the new Capitol Building.

Now the Supreme Court meets in a building that was designed by Cass Gilbert and built between 1932-1935. On October 13, 1932 they laid the cornerstone and Chief Justice Charles Evans Hughes said, "The Republic endures and this is the symbol of its faith."
