Hi, I am Curious George. This is my journal written by my friends in Mrs. Graves' Morning Kindergarten class at George Earle Elementary in Hobart, Indiana. Each night I go to a different home and get to become part of their family until we return to school in the morning.

I hope you enjoy reading this, as much as I enjoyed all the fun times I have had! This is my second month of going home with this class of morning kindergartners!

October 1, 1998

Hi, Curious George here! I spent the day with Dallas. When we got off the bus, Dallas' Daddy was waiting with his big dairy truck to have lunch with us. We had fish for lunch that his Dad's friend caught in Alaska! After that we played with Dallas' brothers, Dakota and Devin, and some neighbors on their swing set. Grandma stopped by and brought a huge wooden "Drakula Cow" for Halloween to decorate the yard! When Dallas' Dad got back home, we ordered pizza and watched "Men In Black." It's funny. After that, we had chocolate milk and went to bed. See you in the morning! Curious George.

October 4, 1998

I had the pleasure of spending the entire weekend with Sean and his beautiful family. Before Sean and I could go outside and roller blade, we had to clean his room. We then watched a little television and I too now want to be a Power Ranger! We went to Sean's Grandma's house for dinner. It smelled good, but I didn't get to eat any. I was too busy hiding from the dog. On Sunday night we all went to see the movie ANTZ. It was pretty good, but a movie about monkeys would have been better. Well, it's time to go to bed now. I'll never forget Sean or his family - they were AWESOME! Curious George

October 5, 1998

Hi! this is Curious George writing to you from Steven's house. When we got off the bus from school, I got scared, because Steven's house has a bunch of monsters for Halloween. We had lunch together and played video games. Then we played monkey in the middle and ate some jelly beans. Then I watched a movie with Steven and his cousin, Nicole. Then Steven, Nicole, Amanda and me played some games and layed down for bed. All in all I had a great time. Curious George.

October 6, 1998

Today I spent over at Michael's house. We watched a movie, Jungle Book, next we got to see monkeys. Then we had a snack. Michael played with me and his cat, Gizmo. Gizmo licked me. Well, then we ate dinner. I sat on the table and watched. Michael's Mom said time for Michael and his brother, James, to take a bath. Well, it ended up Michael's brother put me in the tub. So Michael's Mom blow dried me. We're going to bed. Long Day! George

October 7, 1998

Today I got to ride in the van with Alex to his day care. We ate lunch, took a nap, then played until Alex's Dad picked us up. Then I got to meet his baby sister, Taylor, and his Mommy Pam. I got to see Alex's big fish tank that had lots of fish in it! We got to watch a little TV and eat dinner. Then we played with Alex's toys and Taylor kept wanting to hold me and give me lots of kisses. Finally, Alex's Mom read us all the story "The Shiny Apple." Then we watched Alex draw a picture. I got to sleep in Alex's bunk bed. PS, I got to play fight with Alex's action figures - that was cool! Hope to come again! George!

October 8, 1998

Today, I came home with Trevor. After school we had mini-hamburgers for lunch. Then, Trevor was showing me how to fly by throwing me up in the air and catching me. Sometimes I fell on the floor and that hurt. Then, Trevor's Mom made brownies with me. Trevor licked the spoon and had chocolate on his face. While the brownies baked, Trevor took me downstairs to play mini cars. Trevor's cousins came to play too! Then, we went to bed after our story time. Trevor read his counting book to me. Now I'm sleepy, Good Night.

October 9 and 10, 1998

Today I went home with Jim from the Fire Department. Since it was Friday, I spent the whole weekend there. Jim has 2 big dogs and we played in the yard. Saturday we had grilled cheese sandwiches and chicken noodle soup. The dogs tried to sneak up and eat a piece of the sandwich. Saturday afternoon we visited a fire station where Jim works in another city. The trucks are all really big! WE had pizza for dinner and went back home. Saturday night some of Jim's friends came over and we built a campfire. It was a little cold out but it was fun. We could see thousands of stars and roasted marshmellows. It's getting late and time for bed. Tomorrow's a big day! Night George

October 11, 1998

It's early Sunday morning around 6:30 a.m. and I can smell bacon cooking. Jim made breakfast and we ate like kings! We had scrambled eggs, bacon, toast and has browns. We drank a big glass of milk. Today we are going to Chicago! We drove down the expressway and I could see the tall buildings in the distance getting bigger and bigger! Jim has a sister that lives in Chicago. We all met and went window shopping downtown. His sister is really funny. She is a comedian. We had lunch at a small restaurant near Lake Michigan. We saw a lot of people running and bike riding along the Lake. We saw a lot of sailboats on the water. They were pretty. Well, it's time to go home. We said good-bye to Jim's sister and drove away. :-) George

October 12, 1998

Back to Work! Jim and I went to the fire station. Jim brought a camera and we took some pictures of the fire trucks. WE had a group of children from another school visit the fire station. We looked at all the neat stuff and then ate cookies. I brought some cookies back for you! Jim said when the pictures get developed, he will drop them off to our class. FIRE CALL!!! Gotta go .... We're back from the call. It was a false alarm. Jim told the people to change the battery in their smoke detector. Is your smoke detector working? better make sure! Bye, George

I stayed with Mr. and Mrs. Graves during this time. I have had so much fun going home with all the kids, but I was getting really tired. So, I asked Mrs. Graves if I could just stay home at her house for a few days and rest. I sure miss all the children. Can't wait to return to school and go visiting again!

October 19, 1998

Me and Jeremy rode the bus home to Jeremy's Dad's house. We ate mini hot dogs with Jeremy's sister, Page, and his Step-Mommy. Then we played outside for a while. After we played, Jeremy's Mom and Step-Dad picked us up and we went to Walgreens and went to Jeremy's Grandpa's house to visit with him and we played basketball until dark. We then came home, took a shower and watched wrestling on TV while waiting for dinner. After dinner we ate a snack and we brushed our teeth. We were tucked into bed. That was my day and evening with Jeremy. Bye! Bye! Curious George

October 21, 1998

Grandpa picked us up from school. TJ's Grandpa is so cool! We got to watch Grandpa and help him cut wood. That was really neat!! We ate lunch, then his Grandpa had to go to work, so I stayed with TJ's cousins, Ed and Louis. Louis broke the lock tot he bathroom and his Mom wasn't very happy. We played, ate again, this time we had some good soup and fruit, Yummy! Then TJ's Mom picked us up, fed us dinner. Again! I'm stuffed! We read a book, took a bath, and helped TJ's Mommy clean up. What a Day. I'm tired. We're going to bed. Bye-bye, Curious George

October 22, 1998

After school, Brittany's mom took us home. We had a snack. Then we got ready to go to Aunt Dorothy's house. Brittany's Mom bought her two Beanie Babies. After we visited there for a while, we came home and played outside. Brittany gave me a ride in her car. We had a blast! Then we came in and watched a Barney tape. Then we ate dinner afterwards. We took Brittany's sister to cheer practice. After we got back, it was after seven. We were both so tired. Brittany's Mom read us a story, and then we fell asleep.

October 25, 1998

George and Mrs. Graves went home on Friday, so George could have a bath. We went to Applebee's for dinner. George had part of Mrs. Graves' chicken fingers. Then they went to Sam's and bought a new CD. On Saturday we worked in the yard after my bath. Mrs. Graves made me climb the tree to cut down a broken limb. I was tired, so I stayed home while Mr. and Mrs. Graves went to dinner with friends. On Sunday we cleaned the boat and put the cover on for winter. I had a good time, but had to work too hard. George

October 26, 1998

Today I got to go home with Kirsten again. Kirsten fixed us peanut butter sandwiches all by herself. Her Daddy helped a little bit. Then we went to play with Damian and Cameron. We collected ladybugs in a jar, but when we finished playing, we let them out. Then we got to go back to school and play on the swings while we waited for Chris to finish with baseball. It was Kirsten's turn to pick dinner, so we picked hamburger mac 'n cheese. Mrs. S read us 3 books and then all of my diary. Then we colored pictures. Time to brush our teeth and say our prayers. October 27, 1998

Today I went with Trevor. We went to the doctor's office for Trevor's check up. Then we had lunch at a restaurant. We went to the store for some Halloween candy. Then, we came home and made pumpkin cookies. Yum! Yum! Then, we went outside to play tag. Trevor's friends came to play, too! After dinner, I had to take a bath with Trevor because we were very dirty. Then, we went to bed. Reading all my adventures was fun. Now, I'm sleepy. Good Night.
