Hi, I am Curious George. This is my journal written by my friends in Mrs. Graves' Morning Kindergarten class at George Earle Elementary in Hobart, Indiana. Each night I go to a different home and get to become part of their family until we return to school in the morning.

I hope you enjoy reading this, as much as I enjoyed all the fun times I have had! I have already gone home with different children for four months. It is a New Year and I can't wait for all the fun times I am going to have!

January 4, 1999

Today I came home with Krissy. When we got off the bus, we went to our friends' (Laura and Brooke's) house. We ate hot dogs for lunch there. After lunch, we opened our Christmas present from Laura. (Krissy hadn't seen Laura since before Christmas.) It was the Operation Game - what fun! Then we gave Brooke the doll we got her for Christmas. When we got home, we had to shovel to get in the driveway because the snowplow came and blocked us out. After that, we had homemade chicken soup and grilled cheese sandwiches for supper. Yum! Well, gotta go! See everyone tomorrow. Love, George

January 5, 1999

This is George again, and I'm still at Krissy's house. We didn't go to school today because it is way too cold outside. (-40 degrees). Krissy and I played RugRats on Krissy's computer today. We wanted to go outside and play, but Krissy's Mom wouldn't let us because it is too cold. After we played on the computer, we played doll house with Krissy's sisters. After that, Jessie did our nails. We had macaroni and cheese and corn dogs for lunch. Then we watched Herbie the Love Bug. It was funny! I got to talk to Krissy's Aunt Laurie on the phone. Boy is she nice! Well, time for bed! Good Night! Curious George

January 6, 1999

Today I got to come home with Stephanie. We played doll house and then her Dad made us lunch. After lunch her Grandma came over to watch us and we watched her cut Stephanie's sister's hair. While we were waiting for Steph's Mom to come home, we played with Stephanie's new puppy. His name is Snowball and he bites but her Mom said he's just playing because he's a puppy. Her Mom fixed us soup for dinner and it tasted so good because it was so cold outside. Her Mom gave Stephanie and her sister, Meghan, a bath and then read us a book before bed and then she tucked us in and said our prayers. Curious George

January 7, 1999

I'm at Kirsten's tonight. After our bus ride home and lunch, we went on errands with her Mom. First, the bank where we got suckers. Then the Mall - it was so scary. When we used the escalator, Kirsten held me on the rail. When we went back up, I wasn't so scared. Actually, the ride up was kinda fun. We had a snack - french fries - at Burger King for our ride back to Hobart. When we went to the Post Office, they wouldn't let me drop the letters, because Kirsten's Mom thought I might fall in. Then to the library where Kirsten and I picked out some books. One about Pooh, but non about me. :-( Home again, home again. Jiggity-jig! I got to ride in Barbie's new red convertible - I went around the whole house! Neat car! We met Christopher at the bus stop and on the way home, Kirsten tripped and I fell in deep snow. I got wet, but Kirsten dried me off. Finally, we relaxed and watched Arthur on TV. Kirsten took me with her to get clothes out of the dryer and she buried me in the basket with all the clothes! Because I was the guest, I got to pick dinner. I chose "breakfast for dinner." Kirsten and I took scrambled eggs and bacon to Miss Agnus - her "grandma" neighbor. After we watch some TV, Mrs. S will read us a story and say prayers with us, and then I can get some sleep. WOW! WHAT A DAY! C.G.

January 9, 1999

BOY! I came home with Kirsten AGAIN! so Mrs. S could finish typing my journal and Christopher could make it a web page. After we got home, the electricity went off and I got lost in the dark. Kirsten and I watched Home Alone 3 and went to bed early! Thank Goodness. This morning we went out and shoveled snow around Miss Agnus' car and got money for it! Then we went on a Snow Walk so we could do our homework. After lunch we played Jump Start 1st Grade on Kirsten's computer. Then Kirsten let me ride in the Barbie Jeep! WOW! We took dinner to Miss Agnus again and then Kirsten and I took down the Christmas tree all by ourselves. :o) We're going to watch a movie now and go to bed. Love, C. George

January 10, 1999

In the middle of the night, I hid in the Kleenex box and Kirsten had to find me! After breakfast, Kirsten and I did our Snow Walk homework. Then we got to eat lunch in Kirsten's room and watch TV. We got to help Mrs. S make the stew and we got covered with flour. Mr. S took us for a ride because we had cabin fever. It was nice to get outside. On the way home, we stopped at storage and we all had to dig snow out so we could open the door. Christopher and Kirsten got their sleds out! The stew we made was delicious except for the onions. It was a relaxing time and I feel rested now. Time to get ready for bed. Love, George
